On Friday 9th April Buckingham Palace announced the death of HRH Prince Phillip, Duke of Edinburgh. He was a just few weeks short of his 100th birthday. One of the Duke of Edinburgh's most enduring achievements is his worldwide award programme for young people. The Duke of Edinburgh’s Award (DofE) was established 65 years ago. The DofE has become one of The Duke’s most remarkable achievements, equipping and empowering young people from all communities to build the skills, confidence, and resilience they need to make the most out of life. Ruth Marvel, chief executive of DofE, said “The Duke’s timeless vision for young people has never been more relevant or needed. The DofE has played a crucial role in supporting young people to survive and thrive despite the unprecedented challenges of the pandemic, and we will continue to build on his legacy.”

SNYE are pleased to welcome two new members of staff who join the youth charity in January, as  our Youth Engagement Coordinator and Youth Worker. Both start work during a period of lockdown but the youth sector is still active, with youth workers granted key worker status. They are keen to connect with youth leaders, activity providers and others trying to support young people in such challenging times.
